Start your day on the Plaza de
La Cultura. Visit the Gold Museum and see if you can get tickets for a performance that night at the Teatro Nacional.
 From the Plaza de la Cultura, stroll up Avenida Central to the Museo National. After lunch, head over to the Jade Museum or the neighboring National Arts Center (if you have the energy for another museum). After all this culture, a stroll through the chaos of the Mercado Central is in order. Try dinner at either Bauhaus or La Cocine de Lena before going to the Teatro
National. After the performance you absolutely must swing by La Esmeralda for some live Mariachi music before calling it a night. |
one of the most beautiful areas in Costa Rica. Offshore rocky islands dot the vast expanse of blue water. In the foreground the rich deep green of the rainforest sweeps down to the water. The view along the seven kilometers of road between Quepos and the national park entrance is superb. A shantytown of shacks
lines the road just outside the park. The national park covers fewer than 1,700 acres but is one of the most popular national parks in the country. It is the site of three nearly perfect beaches. These beaches are connected by a trail that meanders through the rain forest between the beach and the mountains that rise quickly as you head inland from the water. The Manual Antonio forests are home to the endangered squirrel monkey, three-toed sloth, purple and orange crabs and hundreds of other species of birds, mammals and plants.
